T. Harv Eker is a renowned businessman, author and motivational speaker and is well known around the world for his inspirational and motivational speeches, his books and seminars. He is famous for propounding theories that motivate people and help them build their wealth. It is because of him that more than 1.5 million people have been able to move ahead in their life and achieve financial freedom in its true sense. He has authored the book entitled ‘Secrets of the Millionaire Mind’, that is considered to be one of the smartest creations that gets people to jump to action rather than just reading and learning, which he believes is the new age mantra for success, as motivation without action is like a far-fetched dream.
How it All Began
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Eker moved to the United States as a young adult. On reaching the U.S., he started many different companies, but none of them were successful till he ventured into retail fitness business. This prompted him to open up a chain of fitness stores that minted him millions. However, he lost his wealth due to money mismanagement. This prompted Eker to delve into the mental and emotional relationship wealthy people have with their money which, in turn, prompted him to come up with theories that he spreads today with the help of his books and lectures.
According to Eker, every individual has an internal blueprint that controls the way the person relates to money. If people can change this internal script, they will be able to accumulate wealth. He says that he has used this same theory to change his internal blueprint which has helped him become a multimillionaire after losing all his money.
Eker also believes that most people love playing the victim because they are unwilling to make sacrifices that can lead to success. Such people believe that they have no control over their situation and hence, stay in the same rut. His style of imparting knowledge is straightforward and puts the real picture right in front of you, that makes things easy to understand and simpler to digest. His simple yet effective approach in helping people achieve their dreams has helped him gain the rightful recognition that he enjoys today and thanks to the immense amount of knowledge that he has earned through his personal experiences, many people are able to avoid the common mistakes people make and jump right to the safe zone when it comes to money and how to multiply it successfully.
Another theory that Eker postulates is that guilt can prevent people from seeking wealth, but if people begin believing that they can use their wealth to help others who are not as privileged, it can enable people accumulate wealth and assuage the guilt they are feeling. When humanitarian efforts are mixed with business and profession, it helps in increasing the self esteem and the self confidence, the two qualities that helps in reaching goal at a faster rate.
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind
His main theory of the internal script that prevents people from accumulating wealth is penned in the “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind.” In this book, Eker has mentioned 17 ways in which the internal blueprint of the wealthy is different from the middle class and poor. Eker goes through great pains to show that rich and wealthy have a strong belief in their abilities. They believe they have created their own lives and wealth, while the poor blame life. According to him, the wealthy concentrate on opportunities, while the poor tend to focus their energies on obstacles and this prevents them from grabbing opportunities and accumulating wealth. He also states that rich people admire others like themselves, while the poor tend to resent and begrudge the wealthy.
Seminars and Training for Success
Eker offers seminars and training sessions to guide people to the path of riches. Through these seminars and training sessions, Eker is staying true to a vow he made to himself years ago when he was struggling. He had promised himself that should he ever get rich, he would help others to also get rich.
With the help of his books, training and seminars, he has managed to help 1.5 million people around the world by taking them closer to achieving financial freedom.
