“The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on what they should have done, or what they don’t do.” This is the philosophy of Denis Waitley, one of America’s most respected keynote lecturers, authors and productivity consultants in the areas of self-motivation, personality development and high performance.
Denis Waitley believes that success starts in the mind. If you believe success is just a fingertip away, you will find it quickly. On the other hand if you constantly look for excuses, you will only find failure. People need to be proactive in their goals not make excuses constantly. In fact, if success is not directly within your reach, instead of giving up you should look for an alternative way to reach it. Denis believes in the power of resourcefulness.
Denis graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis and did a stint as a Naval Aviator. He is the acknowledged authority on self development, individual productivity and high performance. Denis did not have a happy secure childhood. At the age of 9 his father walked out of their home, leaving him to become the man of the house. There was no child support and his mother was struggling with her own problems. It was at time that Denis’ grandmother became his strength and mentor. While on visits to his grandmother’s home she would get him to help with planting the garden. She told Denis that they were planting seeds of greatness and these tiny little seeds would grow into something they could eat. It is these memories and experiences that led to Denis writing his bestseller book “Seeds of Greatness”. His grandmother was also responsible for introducing Denis to the world of books as she and her husband owned their own bookstore. When Denis Waitley’s eight grade teacher gave him a book titled “As a Man Thinketh” it had such a positive effect on him that Denis knew deep inside he wanted to be a public speaker and writer in the future.
